Lawyer and government official. In 2008–2009, Undersecretary of State at the Office of the Committee for European Integration, in 2010, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in the years 2012–2014 Secretary of State in this ministry, in the years 2014–2019 head of the cabinet of the President of the European Council Donald Tusk, from 2024 member of the European Commission.
From 2020 to 2023, he was director at the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU responsible for transport, telecommunications and energy. On December 13, 2023, he took over the management of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the European Union in Brussels as a minister plenipotentiary; he held this position until October 2024.
As Commissioner for Budget, Public Administration and Anti-Fraud, Piotr Serafin is tasked with leading the preparation of the next long-term EU budget and ensuring a smooth transition to this new budget.
