President of Bialystok for the 5th term. He has held this office continuously since 2006.
His presidency is a period of dynamic development of Bialystok, among others thanks to the effective acquisition of EU funds. Since 2007, the city has received about PLN 2 billion of co-financing for investments worth a total of about PLN 3 billion, which significantly improved the appearance of the city and the comfort of life of its residents.
An economist by education, he holds the title of habilitated doctor and is a professor at the University of Bialystok, with over 110 scientific publications to his credit. For years, he has been involved in the development of the city, region and country, acting, among others, as an advisor to the Minister of Regional Development and working at the Government Center for Strategic Studies on the Country Development Strategy and the Operational Programme Development of Eastern Poland.
