Hoonmin Lim
Hoonmin Lim – Korean diplomat. He studied German Language and Literature as well as Political Science and Diplomacy at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.
After passing the High Diplomatic Service Examination in 1991, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea (MOFA). Ambassador Lim started working in diplomacy in 1998 as the First Secretary at the Korean Embassy to the Italian Republic, and then as the First Secretary of the Korean Embassy to the Kingdom of Thailand (2002).
In his professional career Ambassador Lim worked for several international organizations: in 2006 he was posted as Counsellor at the Permanent Korean Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, then in 2014 as Minister-Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Korea to the United Nations in New York.
In 2011 he took up the position of Assistant Secretary in the President’s Office. Prior to that Ambassador Lim was employed as Director in the Development Policy Division, Development Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT).
In 2012 he was assigned as Minister Counsellor at the Korean Embassy in Ukraine.
From 2018 to 2020 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Permanent Representation to the African Union (AU). He also served as Government Representative for the Arctic Affairs and Ambassador for African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2020-2021).
H.E. Hoonmin Lim started his assignment in Poland in February 2021.
Ambassador Lim is married and has two daughters.
