Mantas Varaška is a Lithuanian lawyer, politician and local government official, serving as Mayor of Kazlų Rūda since 2019. He holds a PhD in Law, specialising in comparative constitutional law. From 2005 to 2008 and from 2013 to 2015, he was a lecturer in constitutional law, legal theory and issues related to the protection of citizens’ rights. From 2006 to 2008, he served as an Advisor to the Minister of Justice of Lithuania, and from 2008 to 2012 he was a Member of the Lithuanian Parliament. In 2013, he served as an Advisor to the Minister of Defence of Lithuania, and in 2016 as an Advisor to the Minister of Health. He also has experience in the private sector and healthcare. From 2014 to 2016, he headed an organisation representing manufacturers in the electrical and electronics sector. From 2016 to 2018, he was responsible for public procurement at Kauno klinikos, the largest healthcare institution in Lithuania. Since 2019, he has headed the Kazlų Rūda municipality, and since 2025 he has been a Member of the European Committee of the Regions, where he is involved, among other areas, in matters concerning security, defence and the resilience of European regions.
